This week we got to write one of our letters to people. This time it was gratitude letters. I had to do a lot of thinking about this. I wanted my letter to mean something important, and not just a stupid thank you about something small. I mean small things do matter. I have been reading 13 Reasons Why and learning about how impactful small things can be. Still, I wanted it to be something big. I began to think about where I was. How I got here. Who got me here. What am I doing here. I mean I came here to be a math teacher and do sing. But why? What made me choose math teacher. I mean I have always liked math, but why a teacher. I thought a lot about it. What actually helped me make my decision. What made me want to be a stupid fun high school teacher. I realized it was my own math teacher I had junior and senior year. She was probably the best part of my school day. Her class was rough sometimes, but it was never something I dreaded. She just always seemed to make math fun. She had us do scavenger hunts around school that you had to solve math problems for each clue. She had us make our own word problems on related rates that we got to present to the class. Even when I struggled in her class, I still enjoyed it. After taking math classes with professors and teachers that make my life hell, I realized that she was the reason I want to be a math teacher. I wrote my letter to her and how she impacted me, even when I did not realize it.
